Produced for a postcard exhibition at Surface Gallery in Nottingham. It's a play on Richard Prince's joke paintings, using "classic" English humour rather than American.

It's all painted by hand, with brushes. I was after a printed/industrial process look, which I think I acheived.

The background was built up with lots and lots of layers of translucent orange, red, and brown. This gives it a shine and depth you don't see in the photograph. Some layers were sandpapered to give a more "industrial" effect.

The lettering was printed on a computer, then traced on to the painting with charcoal, and painted over with black acrylic and a very fine brush. The lines which look like the edges of a printing block were made with a palette knife. A couple more layers of red and some more sandpapering finished it off, then it had four or five coats of gloss varnish.
